Hand Controls for Handicap Accessibility

Hand Controls allow people with a disability or handicap such as limited lower mobility the means for driving vehicles. These adaptive driving systems are available in many different configurations to be customized for specific handicap needs. Hand Controls are designed to allow a driver to manipulate the brake and gas pedals using levers that typically gets mounted below the steering wheel and attaches to the pedals. With the use of car hand controls, handicap individuals can operate the brake and gas pedals with their hands. Not only are there primary hand control systems to control acceleration and braking, but there are also secondary units that help control the blinkers, windshield wipers, and gear shifts. AMS Vans provides a variety of car hand control modifications for wheelchair vehicles to assist with these functions and make it possible for our customers to drive safely. The disabled person’s specific mobility needs will determine which custom hand control parts to choose that will be best suited for driving.

The hand controls we use are designed to have the highest levels of user-friendliness, ease of operation, and safety. The hand control systems we use do not interfere with standard driving and no adjustment is required to allow for standard drivers to be able to operate the vehicle. AMS Vans offers different types of car hand controls to provide the most comfort and ease of use while driving.
