The Able Gamers Foundation unveiled a groundbreaking area of accessible web games on their website, AbleGamers.com. The accessible games are an unprecedented development in the area of gaming for people with disabilities. The Able Gamers Foundation is a non-profit organization that was formed in early 2009 after Marc Barlet’s best friend was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and she could not play the video games they were used to because her fingers had become numb. Marc knew that this is the way Stephanie stayed connected with family and friends, and the loss of gaming would be a devastating blow to her life. Thus, Able Gamers was born.
The new games on AbleGamers.com are sorted by what devices are needed to play (mouse, keyboard, both, etc). There are also reviews of other games, forums, and blogs available for gamers interested in learning more about accessible games and contributing to their community.
Check out Able Gamers to learn more, play games, and network with other disabled gamers and people interested in accessibility in games.
