Georgetown to Start Disability Studies Degree
posted on Mar 04 by Stacy in the Disability News categoryGeorgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies recently started a new disability studies program. The Washington D.C. school will be offering a master of professional studies, and an advanced processional certificate in disability studies.
Launching this fall, it will “explore the many roles of disability in social, cultural, historical and political contexts.”
The Dean of Continuing studies, Robert Manuel, said, “The disability studies program will bring the industry’s top experts into the classroom exposing students to the most current political, societal, financial and emotional issues surrounding this growing and important career field.”
Georgetown currently has a Center for Child and Human Development, which students can use to combine the disability studies degree to concentrate on mental healthcare for kids, early intervention, or developmental disabilities.
