2009 Dodge Grand Caravan awarded Most Dependable JD Power Award

The 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan has added another award to their trophy case. J.D. Power and Associates recently announced that the Dodge Grand Caravan has been named the most dependable vehicle in its class. J.D. Power based their decision on problems experienced by original vehicle owners of the Caravan's 2006 model year. David Sargent, vice-president of automotive research at J. D. Power is quoted as saying: "In the current economic climate, consumers are delaying new vehicle purchases and keeping their vehicles longer. This makes vehicle dependability even more critical."

The Caravan received perfect rating in each of the following categories:
1. Overall dependability
2. Body and interior dependability
3. Features and accessories dependability

Responses from more than 46,000 original owners are used to compile annual rankings. 202 different problem symptoms covering all areas of the vehicle are taken into account and dependability is then determined by the level of problems experienced per 100 vehicles.

J.D. Power states "The study is used extensively by vehicle manufacturers worldwide to help design and build better vehicles--which typically retain higher resale values--and by consumers to help them make more informed choices for both new and used vehicles."

In addition to being named the most dependable vehicle in its class, the Dodge Caravan has also earned the Five-Star Government Front and Side Crash test rating, which is the highest rating available.
