Wheelchair Accessible Van Rental F.A.Q.

Get answers to top questions about renting a handicap van.

I am a driver with a disability. Can I drive your handicap rental van?

Wheelchair drivers are eligible to drive our handicap vans as long as they are able to transfer in and out of their wheelchair into the driver's seat and don't require hand controls. (We do offer hand controls on wheelchair vans for sale).

Is there a deposit to rent handicap vans?

No deposit is required for our van rentals.

How will my credit card be charged for the rental?

The full rental price is due upon pick-up, and any additional fees (overages, refueling, etc.) will be charged to your credit card upon return of the rental vehicle. For out of state delivery, we require the full rental amount and the delivery/pick-up fee before the handicapped rental van is delivered.

Are your wheelchair van rentals safe?

Your safety is our priority. All AMS handicap van rentals are thoroughly inspected to make certain you receive a wheelchair-accessible vehicle that's comfortable and reliable. We also install a safety back-up for the wheelchair ramp in the unlikely event of a power failure. In the handicap van conversion, AMS retains important components like the driver-side rocker panel, and we don't slice both B pillars, which provide additional structural rigidity in case of a front, side or rear accident.
